2021 Health Challenge begins Jan. 11th
2020 was a rough year for all of us, and it got many of us off track from our normal, healthy routines. Whether you’re sleeping less, exercising less or having more to drink, we could all use a little reset.
Join us in gently coming back to consistent eating and exercise habits in our 2021 Health Challenge! Begins Jan. 11th.
Holiday Schedule: Christmas & New Year’s Weeks
We will have an updated schedule for Christmas and NYE weeks this year, plus a change to our schedule, effective Jan. 1.
How to Eat Out & Stay Healthy
You want to eat healthy, but then find yourself with friends at The Rio eating Mexican food. Since you're there, you might as well have some chips and salsa (like a whole basket of chips, maybe two because you’re starving), and your friends want to cheers you, so you get a marg. This cascade sets you up to either feel deprived or make a sub-optimal choice.
Even though eating out is obviously not ideal from a health standpoint, we all dine out on occasion. And whether you're on a Clean Challenge or not, it's important to maintain healthy eating habits as often as possible. So why not ask your friends to meet you halfway? If you put a little thought into choosing restaurants with some healthy options that you like, then it doesn’t have to be an unhealthy choice (or more likely: a series of unhealthy choices).
How Strength Training Improves Endurance Performance
In the past, training was all about volume. Old school trainers coached that the more you ran, cycled or swam, the more endurance you'd have for each. After all, practice makes perfect, right?

Why You Should Avoid Refined Oils (& What You Should Use Instead)
For years we were told that saturated fats were evil and things like "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" were presented as healthy alternatives. Now we know better...but to make sure that everyone's on the same page, here's a quick overview of the reasons why seed & vegetable oils and soy are not healthy.

Fixing my timing, making sure I was eating enough, and ensuring it was the right stuff.
