Meet Emily Wishall: Rolfer at CrossFit Sanitas in Boulder

Emily graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science.

Her original plan was to become a physical therapist, so she did a full-time 4-month internship with a physical therapist specializing in myofascial release. This internship is what propelled Emily’s interest in the fascia, the connective tissue or soft tissue skeleton of the body, and shifted her career focus to finding a modality that focused on working with the fascia to help others reach their full physical potential.

Emily first heard about Rolfing Structural Integration from an uncle who was a runner and had multiple back injuries. Rolfing had dramatically changed his life. After a couple years serving as a full-time volunteer for two different non-profits and experiencing various healing modalities, Emily decided to become a Certified Rolfer. In the fall of 2013, she moved to Boulder to attend the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration. She graduated from the institute in August of 2015. Since graduating, she has completed several continuing education classes with topics ranging from craniosacral work, the neuroscience behind chronic pain, functional methods from an osteopathic perspective, and the Lokte Method.

Emily loves working with people through the physical body to help them reach their full potential, whether that be achieving specific performance goals or experiencing less pain & greater mobility in their body. In her free time, she likes to be in nature, whether hiking on the trails or camping, leisure trail running, or reading a book in the sun. As a recent CrossFit convert, she loves how much stronger and capable she feels out on the trails since doing the workouts.

What is Rolfing Structural Integration?

Rolfing is a unique form of bodywork that systematically works to realign, readjust, reorganize and balance the body in gravity to its most efficient form. This is done by manipulation of the body’s fascial tissue(connective tissue) and reeducation with the client and their body awareness.
