Join us to Hike Boulder’s Skyline Traverse Sept 4th
One of the greatest things about CrossFit is that it gets you really fit for things you want to do outside of the gym. This Saturday please join us to hike four of Boulder’s highest peaks in one day: South Boulder Peak, Bear Peak, Green Mountain and Flagstaff Mountain. This trail is also known as Skyline Traverse, but we’re skipping Mt. Sanitas at the end so we can celebrate with some Tiki drinks and burgers at Jungle just off of Pearl Street. Don’t worry, it will still take most of the day and be plenty challenging!
The hike takes between 8 and 10 hours depending on our group pace and the weather. We'll stop every hour or so for snacks, water, photos and the like. If you've never done this hike before, you can expect views of Boulder, Denver, the surrounding mountains and the Continental Divide divide that are simply amazing. Parts of the hike are quite hard, like up to South Boulder Peak and Green Mountain, while others are more relaxing and rolling.
The trail begins at the Parking Lot for the Mesa Trail South Trailhead. We will exit the trail nearest Pearl Street around Eben G Fine Park and head to Jungle for food and drinks. A cold drink will taste really, really good post hike, we promise. There are people who live in Boulder their whole lives and never attempt this hike, don't let that be you!
DETAILS:
HOW TO GET THERE: This is a one-way hike, so we will need to shuttle people back to the trailhead after the hike or after happy hour.
Meet at Eben G Fine Park at 6:20-6:30a to carpool to the trailhead. Cars will depart at 6:30a sharp, so if you’re late, meet us at the trailhead.
The trail begins at the Parking Lot for the Mesa Trail South Trailhead. Anyone that parks at the trailhead will need to bring $5 cash for your parking envelope. There’s no change and you have to have cash.
HOW TO GET BACK TO YOUR CAR:
It’s about 15-20 minutes back to the trailhead, so we’ll send a few cars back with anyone that needs to pick up their car.
WHAT TO BRING:
A LOT OF WATER - No really, more than you think you'll need. We suggest one full bladder of water + 2 nalgenes with a hydration mix like Scratch added.
Salty/sweet snacks like trail mix, chocolate, pretzels, protein bars, nuts, etc.
Lunch (whatever you like to eat)... think a turkey sandwich with avocado and cheese, maybe two of them, or three.
Hiking poles if you use/prefer them. These will really save your knees on the downhill.
Layers of clothing based on weather.
Rain gear (no matter what).
Sunscreen and a hat.
Comfortable hiking shoes.
Your phone for photos.
If you can’t make the hike but you’d like to save us a spot at Jungle…meet us there around 4p. Post hike … a burger and a cold beverage never tasted this good!
