February Member of the Month

Note: not actual workout, staged photo.

A big round of applause to our February Member of the Month: Jeff Mac Strong! Jeff Mac is a mainstay in our midday Nooner class but has been known to make appearances at other times as well. He comes from a long background of CrossFit and an even longer background of sport playing baseball, basketball and more recently some attempts at golf.

In March he will be turning 40 years old and he will be taking the lead on programming a special workout to celebrate. Keep a lookout on our social media for more details as we get closer to the date. It’ll likely be a Saturday partner WOD called “Strong 40” you won’t want to miss!

Here’s what we chatted about when we caught up last week:

  • How long have you been a member and how did you start doing CrossFit?

I joined Sanitas the same month we moved to Boulder - Nov 2014 - so a little over 7 years now. I was introduced to Crossfit by a couple of friends back in Mississippi about a year and a half before moving here. I still stay in touch with friends I met at CrossFit 601.

  • What is your favorite type of workout? Least favorite?

Favorite type of workout is a longer chipper style workout that has a barbell and some skill movements (DU's, MU's). Least favorite is harder to nail down, but anything with Assault Bike sprints would qualify.

  • How do you stay engaged and committed on your fitness journey?

I know that I'm better all around when I consistently work out - my mental and emotional health, energy levels, drive - all are at higher levels. I've never found it difficult to consistently come into the gym when I enjoy the variety of workouts that contribute to my overall health.
