Benefits of Thai Massage

After multiple days of high intensity output as an athlete, you may find yourself stiff, sore, and lacking the power and range of motion you had at the beginning of your week. Some see this as a badge of honor representing the level of output done in a workout. The truth is, the longer your body lives in this state you can quickly loose strength, power and hard earned gains.

When your body lacks full range of motion during any movement including your Squat, Snatch, and Clean, you are cheating yourself on maximum gains during your movement.

Here’s why. Restriction in your movement results in less fibers being recruited, which means less gains for every movement done. Not to mention the fact that when your muscles are tight and out of balance you are increasing your risk of injury.

On a day to day basis I hear athletes say things like, “I would mobilize if I could find the time” or “I wish someone could mobilize for me”. Well that’s where Thai Massage comes in. Thai Massage is a modality that is focused on mobilizing your body on different planes of movement than we find typically find ourselves in, while focusing on softening and breaking up the sticky mess in between our muscle fibers. “It’s like being able to take a nap while getting a massage and doing a yoga class all at once” is a common response I hear from athletes.

By being able to achieve full range of motion in your workouts, you will be able to recruit more muscle fibers which in turn will give you access to your full potential of strength and speed. If you want to be able to truly give 100% of your human potential you need to have full range of motion on every plane of movement. An athlete can have an extra edge over fellow competitors by getting on a regular mobilizing routine, and incorporating Thai Massage into your Training Program and Recovery Routine.
