4 Things to Know About Bolder Boulder

Ahh yes, springtime in the Rockies…

Time to shed your winter garb, throw on running shoes, and run the most famous Memorial Day run in the world!

Wait, what?

The BOLDERBoulder 10K was founded in 1979 as a small, local 10K and has grown to be one of the largest and most respected community running events in the world. Our town celebrates Memorial Day with more than 50,000 participants and 70,000 spectators. We want Sanitas representation on the big day - and we have a plan.

If you show up to Sanitas in any capacity, you’re an athlete. We’re looking for athletes who are interested in running, and specifically running BOLDERBoulder. Running, like WODs, can be FUN especially when we do it together. Depending on your sport, you may, or may not have focused on running, running strength, or running technique. Don’t stress, we’re here to help! Regardless of your current training regime, working on running efficiency and technique will be beneficial.

In preparation for BOLDERBoulder we’ll be offering the following:

  1. An 8-week running program that guides first time runners on how to start running safely, and for those more experienced runners, how to safely add running volume to a schedule of weekly WODs.

  2. More Endurance WODs! In addition to Saturday at 9a, classes are now also on Mondays and Wednesday at 11a. This is included in your membership. For non-members you can purchase a punchcard to attend these cant-miss classes.

  3. We’ll be leading 5-6 optional all-level group runs to encourage us to lace up our running shoes and hit the ground running. The first run will take place on Saturday April 9th at 12:30 leaving from Sanitas, check the whiteboard for more dates.

  4. On consecutive Saturdays, April 23rd and April 30th, the gym will host Mend Physical Therapy for free movement screenings for YOU! These will be 20 minutes long and run throughout the morning during our Saturday classes to help you determine the best way to add running and squatting volume safely.

We want to have FUN, so we will be bringing some of that CrossFit flare to BOLDERBoulder this year. Think, running with Med-balls or stopping for a few burpees, squats, push-ups, or movements-of-choice along the 6.2 mile way - WHO KNOWS! What we do know is that whatever Crossfit flare we bring, we’d love to bring it together.

Contact coach Lori to get added to our mailing list to hear about future group runs and to see the your 8-week running program. We will offer the basic running programs to those who contact the coaches and will announce our fun runs both to the mailing list and on social media.
