stephanie bachman: august member of the month
Tell us about yourself! Family, hobbies, where did you grow up?
I am originally from Georgia and moved to Boulder with my husband and daughters in 2013. I was not much of an exerciser until I started running for stress relief in law school. My husband and some buddies and I picked up triathlons in the 2000s and I still run and swim now.
What's your favorite thing about being a member at Sanitas?
My favorite thing about Sanitas is the welcoming atmosphere. Since my first day when Scott helped me, members are friendly and kind even though I am still scaling just about everything.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to yourself on your first day, knowing everything you know now?
My advice would be to just give it a try. Everyone has some movements they are better or not as great at and the only way to improve is to keep showing up. Also, a wise woman told me the 22 bar is thinner than the 15, which makes it easier to grab for overhead stuff.
How did you get into CrossFit?
I joined CrossFit because I realized that I had lost my pushups and needed to do some strength training. Then, my daughter (Dagny, also a member) started looking at CrossFit while training to apply to service academies and that was the excuse I needed to join.
3 or more favorite movements
My favorite movements are wallwalks, burpees, deadlifts, farmer carries, rowing, running, split jerk, overhead squats, DB snatches. Really, I like everything. I am even learning to like wallballs. It’s fun to try each new challenge.
