november member of the month: Ben marbach

Ben Marbach has been a dedicated member of Sanitas for 7 years and is a familiar face in the 12:30 class. His energy, consistency, and perspective have become a cornerstone of our community, reminding everyone that hard things can be fun and that discipline creates freedom. Ben continues to inspire those around him to push a little harder and believe in what they’re capable of.

What do you think has been your biggest personal transformation since beginning CrossFit?

I started CrossFit around the same time I got sober. Physical fitness has played a huge part in the last 15½ sober years of my life. CrossFit has helped me learn to be accountable, resilient, and to push past comfortable into uncomfortable.

What do you hope others take away from your journey when they see you training?

That we are never too old to be strong, that it’s never too late to make a change, and that hard things can be fun.

Everyone faces days when they don’t feel motivated — what helps you keep moving forward?

In my life, routine is important — whether it’s meetings, food, work, or working out. I’ve never finished a workout and thought, “I wish I didn’t do that.” So when I don’t want to go, that’s when I need to go most.

Movements Ben loves:
Bar Muscle-Ups, Clean & Jerks, Box Jumps or Jump Overs, Double Unders, Dumbbell Snatch
