"A number of years ago, I set out to write a script about what it was like to be a new parent and to try to teach your children about the good and the bad, the darkness and the light.
The lead Character was named Willa. All of the other characters had generic names- Mom, Dad, Soldier 1, etc. And I started at a very simple place.
Willa says to her dad “This world is so broken.” and Dad Answers “Willa, this world isn’t broken. It has you in it.”
That’s where I started. and then we filmed this crazy movie in Belfast last year. and it became sort of a weird hybrid monster movie, but with heart."
