jacky jones: december member of the month
We are thrilled to celebrate Jacky Jones as Sanitas’ December Member of the Month- well deserved! Jacky brings joy, positivity, and an uplifting energy into the gym every single day. Her friendly smile, encouraging spirit, and genuine warmth brighten every class and make our community stronger. Congratulations, Jacky! We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Sanitas family.
Here is a little Q&A to get to know Jacky:
• Tell us about yourself!
(Family, hobbies, where you grew up, etc.)
If you’ve heard me speak, you’ve definitely heard my thick midwest accent. I grew up in Ohio, and then at 18 I drove out to San Diego to work in the skateboard industry. I feel beyond lucky to now call Boulder my home and even luckier to get to share my life with Owen Hammmond (Sanitas member) and our blended family of four kiddos and five pets!
• What’s your favorite thing about being a member at Sanitas?
The community at Sanitas is the perfect blend of genuine kindness and warmth mixed with a LFG mentality. There is no pretentiousness, everyone is there to work hard, grow in both mental and physical strength and occasionally laugh in solidarity when someone’s shin nails the box!
• If you could give your “Day One self” a piece of advice, what would it be?
Deep breath, strength is an ultra marathon, not a sprint. You are going to be a bit perplexed, totally bewildered at members' insane strength and excited that one day, you too, will know the difference between a snatch and a clean.
• What’s one challenge you’ve overcome recently, and how did you push through it?
One major challenge I overcame was completing my Master's Degree in Data Science while taking classes at night and working full time. It took three years of late nights studying, endless black coffee (with a dash of cocaine!) and tons of family support, but I graduated and was so proud to show my kids that hard work pays off! The cocaine part was a joke, you know that, right?!
• What are three or more of your favorite movements?
Push Press, Bench Press, Burpees, Rowing
• Are there any numbers that are meaningful to you?
(Milestones, lifts, dates—anything important!)
6 members of our blended family; Owen, Sedona (11), Anders (10), Vienna (8), Cynthia (8) and myself.
